Today, at 5:55 AM, I was awakened by the alerts on my phone that a rocket was coming. I got up. Both my roommates got up from their beds, too. We walked to the bomb shelter just behind our house. Lights flickered. A father with his two kids were already there, waiting. People started coming in. The alarms blasted. More people came rushing, some walking more briskly than normal; others running. Then we wait.

Boom.
Boom.
Building slightly shakes.
Boom.
Much louder now.
Then silence.
We wait for a few more minutes. A guy opens the door and leaves. A few people follow suit. We stand up and head out of the shelter and back to our house. I go to the toilet before going back to bed. I lay down. Shut my eyes. Try to continue my sleep where I left off.
Today is the 5th day of the War. It has been going on like this at different times throughout the day. 12:40 PM…. 1:00 AM… 5:30 PM… 9:20 AM… 3:15 AM… random times. Rockets and missiles do not respect body clocks.

Still, life moves on. Yesterday, my professor emailed that we would have a Zoom class tonight. I write this, honestly looking forward to that.
This morning, I thank God for His Peace, His Love, His Joy, His Presence, His Comfort, His Embrace, His Touch.

“The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)
Never has this verse felt so true in my life. I do not fully understand it, but there is a supernatural peace—only coming from God. I cannot fully explain it, but I feel this peace through and through. Only God can do that. I am so blessed and grateful to be here in Israel at such a time as this.
Lord, thank You that we can go about our days and live our lives and serve You in the ways that we can.

I pray for the Iranian people. I ask that You completely free them from this oppressive regime. I pray for peace in the Middle East. Thank You that here in Israel, we are able to live side by side — Jews, Arabs, internationals, and many others. Thank You that here in Jerusalem, we are witnesses that it is possible.
I pray against misinformation on social media and the many lies being spread. Lord, You are Truth. Help us discern what is true and what is not.
I pray for protection for our neighbors, especially civilians in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, and more who are also affected by this war.
Be with us, Lord. Amen
