The Story of Rosemarie Glenn

I struggled with the decision, but I finally surrendered to God. I found myself crying. “Okay, Lord! This is painful!” I placed my hand in the offering basket and released my money. I had no more money.¬

What was going to happen to me?

Putting God First

Although the failed company was gone, the two investors and I met weekly. We agreed that God was to be first in our lives and in whatever business venture we would build in the future. To resurrect the failed company did not seem wise. Soon, we started exchanging ideas on another project. We zeroed in on a product and arrived at a sum we needed for our first investment.

Still, the reality of my finances stared at me constantly. I decided to leave the city. I owned a farm in the province and reasoned out that at least, I wouldn’t starve there since I had vegetables to eat.

While at the farm, God set me up for some amazing surprises.

God’s Surprise #1

First, I received a text message from the owner of the house I rented in Manila. He said he left a notice in our mailbox. Another letter of eviction? I sighed. I asked my son, David, to check it out. David found a red Chinese envelope (an ampao), and inside was a postdated check. I asked for further details on the check and was stunned. The owner of the house had returned the postdated check I had issued for the month, essentially giving me one month free of rent!

I started to sob, thankful for the grace given to me. I thanked the owner of the house for allowing himself to be an instrument used by God.

God’s Surprise #2

One of my habits at the farm was to walk around in the mornings to pray. While doing so one day, I was reminded of the widow in 2 Kings 4 who was in debt and had sons whom her creditor could take away and turn to slaves. The prophet Elisha had asked the widow: “What do you have in your house?”

I thought about what I had with me in the farm. I still had a 16-wheeler truck that I used! Should I sell it? I chuckled to myself. No one would buy such a clunky piece of heavy moving metal!

Just the same, a tricyle driver happened to pass by the farmhouse. I said to him nonchalantly, “Hey, I’m selling my truck! Maybe you have a buyer!” It was illogical for me to treat the tricycle driver as if he had heavy monetary connections. However, three days after that, I had a buyer for the truck who paid in cash. Yes, thanks to the referral of that wonderful tricycle driver! It wasn’t the exact price I wanted, but the amount could certainly help the total sum needed for the business that my two business partners and I wanted to start.

God’s Surprise #3

We launched the new business. It was a business in the health sector that infused hydrogen into drinking water. We released the project into the world, and soon, purchase orders came. This new business steadily grew, and I’m happy to say that it continues on to this day and is being distributed overseas.

My Faithful God

The Lord has been such a faithful God. He is truly my Provider and knows how to restore what we lose. When I look back, I see how God had to teach me how to forgive, pray for, and bless people who had hurt me.

One thing I needed to do was forgive the man who had conned me. God opened a meeting between me and the man. I took the opportunity to release forgiveness to him face to face. It was difficult; in fact, I trembled all over afterward, but there was so much joy as I felt a big load roll off my shoulders.

With the lessons I learned from this experience, I can say that I have an overwhelming feeling of contentment and satisfaction now. Life is not all about money or influencing from the stage or having sparkling jewelry; it is about living in the center of God’s perfect will. This gives me much excitement to face another day. I believe that God is a God of restoration and breakthrough. He can restore what has been stolen and open new doors of opportunity.

My business is flourishing nowadays, and I have the greatest pleasure of giving finances and support whenever and wherever God tells me to give. I am living proof that God is a good God.
